Description:

Speaker:

  • Josh Blackman, Assistant Professor of Law, South Texas College of Law; Author, Unprecedented: The Constitutional Challenge to Obamacare

There are approximately 91 cases still pending challenging various aspects of the Affordable Care Act. Arguments in the case of Hobby Lobby v. Sibelius were just heard in the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has issued an injunction in the case of Little Sisters of the Poor v. Sibelius. Halbig v. Sibelius, another important challenge, is pending in the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals. On May 7th, we will hear Professor Josh Blackman review the status of these cases questioning the constitutionality of many aspects of this troubled statute.

Josh is an Assistant Professor of Law at the South Texas College of Law who specializes in constitutional law, the United States Supreme Court, and the intersection of law and technology. He is the author of Unprecedented: The Constitutional Challenge to Obamacare. Josh is also the founder and President of the Harlan Institute, and of FantasySCOTUS.net, the Internet’s Premier Supreme Court Fantasy League. Josh clerked for the Honorable Danny J. Boggs on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit and for the Honorable Kim R. Gibson on the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, and is a graduate of the George Mason University of Law.
