Speaker:
- Hon. Eileen J. O'Connor, Assistant Attorney General, Tax Division, U.S. Department of Justice
In a presentation entitled "Law: Business? Profession? Calling?" Assistant Attorney General O'Connor will discuss the evolution of law practice over the past several decades, illustrated with cautionary tales arising from tax law enforcement.
O'Connor was nominated by President Bush in May 2001, and confirmed by the Senate that July. Prior to that time she had nearly 30 years experience in the tax field as a lawyer and CPA, and had been an adjunct professor at both Georgetown University Law School and George Mason University Law School. The Justice Department's Tax Division is responsible for virtually all litigation--civil, criminal, trial and appellate--arising under the internal revenue laws other than matters brought in the Tax Court.
