- Hon. John M. W. Moorlach, C.P.A., Chairman of the Orange County Board of Supervisors
So far this year the cities of San Bernardino, Victorville, and Mammoth Lakes have filed for bankruptcy and other municipalities have made noise about following suit. While many factors influence these decisions, a common cause is frequently identified: the financial crisis created by public employee pensions negotiated during more prosperous times. Cities and counties now struggle to meet these obligations as well as the general services expected of local government. Supervisor John Moorlach, who has been at the forefront of Orange County’s efforts to address these issues has stated that “pension costs are now becoming the growing ulcer inside municipal budgets.”
Please join the Orange County Federalist Society on September 27, 2012 for a special presentation by the Honorable John Moorlach, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, as he describes the fiscal challenges presented by public employee pensions as well as options for responding to and reforming the same.
Cost: $35 for lunch and 1 hour of MCLE credit. (The Federalist Society is a California State Bar approved provider of MCLE)
