  • Jesse Panuccio, Executive Director of the Department of Economic Opportunity, Florida

Governor Scott appointed Jesse Panuccio as the Executive Director of the Department of Economic Opportunity on January 8, 2013. DEO is the state agency charged with coordinating and implementing labor, economic development,and growth-management policy and programs. As head of the agency, Panuccio oversees the Department's 1,600 employees and a one-billion-dollar budget. Prior to joining DEO, Panuccio served as the General Counsel to Governor Rick Scott. Before joining the Scott Administration, Panuccio practiced law with the Washington D.C.-based law firm of Cooper & Kirk, where he focused on complex federal and constitutional cases in both trial and appellate courts. Prior to his time at Cooper & Kirk, Panuccio served as a law clerk to Judge Michael W. McConnell of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.
