The Cincinnati Chapter of the Federalist Society will host a luncheon discussion on the pending nomination of Judge Sonya Sotomayor to the United States Supreme Court. Much has changed since the previous Supreme Court confirmation hearings. President Obama announced a standard for selecting nominees different from his predecessor. The President's party controls a filibuster proof majority in the Senate. "Judicial restraint" and "empathy" have been the catch phrases of the confirmation process. Our esteemed panel, which includes a former Sotomayor intern, will provide diverse views on the nominee, the confirmation process, the focal points of the debate, and the effects of the impending Sotomayor confirmation upon the High Court and future nominees.
Please join us from noon until 1:15 p.m. on July 28 for this engaging program. The cost is $15.00. Members and non-members alike are always welcome. RSVP by Noon on July 24th to Charles Miller at firstname.lastname@example.org, 513-579-6967. Pay at the door or in advance by cash or by check (payable to "The Federalist Society"). We look forward to seeing you at the event.
