Last November, Oklahoma voters approved a state constitutional amendment that would ban the use of Sharia law in state courts. Now legislatures in numerous other states are considering similar measures. But what exactly is Sharia law? Is there any real “danger” of it being used in our courts? If there is, should we be so concerned?

David Forte, a Professor of Law at Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, will share his insights based upon his decades of research of Islamic law and culture. During the Reagan administration, Professor Forte served as chief counsel to the United States delegation to the United Nations and alternate delegate to the Security Council. He is also the author of Islamic Law Studies: Classical and Contemporary Applications.
