Andrew C. McCarthy
Andrew C. McCarthy is a bestselling author whose latest book is Spring Fever: The Illusion of Islamic Democracy. He is the Executive Director of the Philadelphia Freedom Center (the east coast branch of the David Horowitz Freedom Center), as well as a contributing editor at National Review and a Senior Fellow at National Review Institute. He also writes the Ordered Liberty blog at PJMedia.
Andy was a Chief Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York best known for leading the government’s successful prosecution against the Blind Sheik (Omar Abdel Rahman) and eleven other jihadists for conspiring to wage a terrorist war against the United States – that included the 1993 World Trade Center bombing and a subsequent plot to bomb New York City landmarks. After the 9/11 attacks, he supervised the U.S. attorney’s command-post near Ground Zero. He is the recipient of numerous awards including the Justice Department’s two highest honors, the Attorney General’s Exceptional Service Award in 1996 for his work on the Blind Sheik case, and the Attorney General’s Distinguished Service Award in 1988 for his work on the “Pizza Connection” organized crime prosecution. His two previous books – Willful Blindness (2008) and The Grand Jihad (2010) – were New York Times bestsellers.
