Prof. Michael B. Rappaport

Professor of Law, University of San Diego School of Law

Professor Michael Rappaport is a professor of law at the University of San Diego. He teaches Administrative Law, Advanced Constitutional Law, Constitutional History and Legislation. He has previously taught Insurance Law, Environmental Law and Banking Law. His research interests include originalism, supermajority rules, the separation of powers and federalism. Previously, Rappaport worked as an attorney-advisor in the Office of Legal Counsel in the U.S. Department of Justice and practiced with Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher in Washington, D.C. Some of his recent publications include "The Judicial Filibuster, the Median Senator, and the Countermajoritarian Difficulty" (coauthored) (Supreme Court Review), "The Original Meaning of the Recess Appointments Clause" (UCLA Law Review), and "Symmetric Entrenchment: A Constitutional and Normative Theory" (co authored) (Virginia Law Review). Rappaport received a JD and a DCL (law and political theory) from the Yale Law School and served as a senior editor of the Yale Law Journal.
