At least three of the Millennium Development Goals adopted in 2000 by the United Nations General Assembly
are related to health: Goal 4 (“Reduce child mortality”), Goal 5 (“Improve maternal health”), and Goal 6 (“Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases”).Many would argue that Goal 7 (“Ensure environmental sustainability”) has a health component as well, as poor environmental conditions often lead to deleterious effects on human health and a safe environment is a precondition to good health....
