Treasury's Blueprint: Regulatory Efficiency or More Red Tape?

On March 31, 2008, the U.S. Department of the Treasury issued its “Blueprint for a Modernized Financial Regulatory Structure,” the largest proposed revamping of federal financial regulation and oversight since the Great Depression. Although released in the middle of a national financial crisis, the Blueprint is not designed to be a quick fix for the current economic situation.
