Prof. Gail Heriot

Professor of Law, University of San Diego School of Law

Professor Gail Heriot was an editor of the University of Chicago Law Review and practiced with Mayer, Brown & Platt in Chicago and Hogan & Hartson in Washington, D.C., before coming to USD in 1989. Her areas of expertise include torts, remedies, product liability, employment law and civil rights. Among her publications are “The New Feudalism: The Unintended Destination of Contemporary Trends in Employment Law,” Georgia Law Review and “Way Beyond Candor,” Michigan Law Review. She is also a frequent contributor to several periodicals, including the Wall Street Journal, the National Review and the San Diego Union-Tribune.Heriot sits on the board of directors of the National Association of Scholars and the California Association of Scholars. She has served as civil rights counsel to the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary and as associate dean and professor of law at the George Mason University School of Law.
