On June 2, 2008, the Supreme Court decided United States v. Santos, holding that the word “proceeds,” as used in the federal money-laundering statute, 18 U.S.C. §1956(a)(1)(A)(i), denotes only the profits of criminal activity, not the gross receipts thereof.
