In addition to his work with the Society, Mr. Leo has played an active role in both public diplomacy and politics. While on leave from the Federalist Society, Mr. Leo organized the outside coalition efforts in support of the Roberts and Alito U.S. Supreme Court confirmations in 2005-2006. He was appointed by President George W. Bush to the US Commission on International Religious Freedom, where he is serving in his second term as chairman, and has been a US Delegate to the UN Council and UN Commission on Human Rights as well as the World Health Assembly of the WHO.
