Bush Alberto Gonzales is Of Counsel at Waller Lansden, having joined the firm in the fall of 2011. He is a member of the Trial and Appellate practice, where he assists clients with government relations and government investigations. In addition, Judge Gonzales was recently named the Doyle Rogers Distinguished Chair of Law at Belmont University. He begins teaching full time in January 2012. Judge Gonzales was the 80th United States Attorney General, having served under President George W. Bush from 2005-2007. Prior to serving at the Department of Justice, he was commissioned as White House Counsel to President Bush in January of 2001. Before that, Judge Gonzales served as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Texas and as Texas Secretary of State. Prior to his appointment as Secretary of State, Gonzales was the General Counsel to Governor Bush for three years.
