- Dagmar W. Rick, Attorney in Immigration La; Instructor in International Law at the Birmingham School of Law
Ms. Rick will give a local perspective on Alabama immigration law. Topics will include Alabama HB56 and how it was impacted by the Eleventh Circuit’s decision in HICA v. Bentley, an overview of current immigration law, and potential goals for comprehensive immigration reform.
About Dagmar W. Rick: An immigrant from Germany herself, Ms. Rick moved to the United States in 1984 when her husband joined the faculty at UAB Medical School. After successfully raising two children, Ms. Rick obtained her J.D. from Birmingham School of Law in 2003. She has been practicing immigration law exclusively for the past four years. Ms. Rick has received awards for mediation from the Alabama State Bar, and as International Ambassador from the UNA/USA Chapter in Birmingham. In addition to her law practice, Ms. Rick serves as an interpreter and translator, teaches International Law at the Birmingham School of Law, and serves as media director for an advertising agency working with foreign clients, such as IKEA, VARIG and FIAT.
